Running From God’s Call: Jonah’s Journey From Rebellion to Revival

Join Shannon Bream as she welcomes back Pastor Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship and inspiration behind the film Jesus Revolution, to explore the story of Jonah from her new book Nothing Is Impossible With God. With his signature humor and deep biblical insight, Pastor Greg reveals how Jonah was a patriotic Israelite called to preach to Nineveh, Israel’s brutal enemy, and how his prejudice led him to actively run in the opposite direction, hoping God would judge them instead. He unpacks the famous “God said go, Jonah said no, God said oh” dynamic, explaining how the real story is about the reluctant prophet who sparked an unlikely spiritual awakening after first experiencing personal revival in the belly of a sea monster. Pastor Greg shares the paperboy analogy (our job is to deliver the news, not write it), addresses why we sometimes fear success more than failure when sharing the Gospel.  This conversation offers profound truth for anyone running from God’s call, wrestling with who deserves grace, or sitting in their own “fish” waiting to come to their senses.
